Downgrade Information

You can always downgrade to an iOS version that Apple is still signing if you have a computer with iTunes (e.g. in the library). Find out which iOS versions are signed for your device via our bot's !shsh command.

Downgrading Status

64-bit devices

From iOS 12.3.x: you cannot downgrade to any unsigned iOS version, yet.

From iOS 12.4 or 12.2 or lower: you can jailbreak and downgrade.

To iOS 12.2+ is possible with the 12.4 SEP for all 64-bit devices.

Downgrading to iOS 12.0 - 12.1.4 will lead to the fortnight bug even if you have SHSH Blobs.

To iOS 10 or 11: you cannot downgrade to any version of iOS 10 or 11 on most devices. Some A7 devices can downgrade to 10.2 - 10.3.3. A7/A8 can downgrade to 11.3 - 11.4.1. You need to have blobs and utilize

You cannot downgrade to versions without a compatible SEP.

32-bit devices

You need blobs. Or a jailbreak. Sometimes a jailbreak and no blobs. Read on.

If you merely need a tutorial for futurerestore, look no further.

Up, down or sidegrading to Signed Stable Versions

If you wish to restore or update to an iOS version that is still signed but is not the most recent, you will have to do this manually. You will need a computer with iTunes.

  1. Download the IPSW file for any signed version via our bot or ipsw.me
  2. In iTunes, hold (macOS: Alt/Option Windows: Shift) and click on Restore, then select the downloaded IPSW. If it downloads as a zip file, rename it to .ipsw.

While you're waiting for the device to restore, save your SHSH blobs for this version!

Apple Betas

You can download any of these configuration profiles and update your device Over-The-Air (without iTunes). Developer betas are among Apple's initial, buggier releases. Public betas are meant for anyone who likes to help Apple iron out any bugs. If you are not a developer, it is advised to run a public beta rather than a developer beta.

Preventing iOS Updates

You may have heard of the NOOTA profile before. If you do not want to receive prompts, automatically download or accidentally upgrade your iDevice or Apple TV to a new version—for example if you are jailbroken on 12.4 or if you are waiting for a jailbreak—then you can simply install the watchOS 5 Developer beta profile on your iDevice in Safari. Reload the page or restart Safari if it doesn't prompt you to open the Settings app! [Mirror]

  • If App Store installs and updates don't work, reset LowerInstall settings to default, respring and uninstall it.
  • Non Substrate Mode is the state when you are jailbroken, but Substrate tweaks are not loaded, so you can use Cydia or Filza to remove them. Hold Volume Up before and while semi-untethered rejailbreaking or untethered rebooting to activate.
  • Stashing is an option to free up system space, beware it's sometimes unstable. Stashing is available for 8.4.1 or 9.3.5 and 9.2 - 9.3.5.
